Peter H. Sprayregen

Mr. Sprayregen is founder and president of Atlantic Capital Corporation. His career began as a securities analyst with Bear Stearns in 1970. Subsequently, he became a Mortgage Loan Officer at Chemical Bank in New York. In that position, he applied his skills to real estate underwriting and loan portfolio management. After completing HUD training, he was also authorized to process subsidized multifamily housing development loans.
Mr. Sprayregen first came to the Boston area to become vice president of Boston Financial Group, a real estate investment firm. Mr. Sprayregen was responsible for the acquisition and marketing of large-scale developments.
In 1980 he founded Atlantic Capital Corporation, which has overseen nearly $1 billion in investment debt. He has personally been responsible for investing over $200 million of individual and institutional equity funds, primarily in the real estate sector.
His experience in the financial markets has included acting as investment banker for a number of new ventures. Mr. Sprayregen also oversees Atlantic’s real estate finance activities. With a background that includes experience as a real estate developer, investment advisor, and lending institution officer, Mr. Sprayregen succeeded in establishing Atlantic as a leader in the field of tax-credit syndication and mortgage financing.
After receiving an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968, Mr. Sprayregen pursued graduate real estate studies at New York University. An avid conservationist and outdoorsman, he was Treasurer of the Appalachian Mountain Club for five years, also serving as a member of its Board of Directors. In 1992 Mr. Sprayregen was appointed by the US Department of the Interior to the federal Wild and Scenic River Act Study Committee.
